OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION "RENAISSANCE BYZANTIUM"

Multimedia artists Association "Constantine," one of the most active art 'associations in Nis, this year took part in the "PALILULA NIGHT 2013" – during the city celebration of "St. Constantine and Helen" and the celebration of the Great Jubilee - 1700 years of the Edict of Milan. Under the auspices of Municipality of Palilula and in association with the Gallery of Modern Art in Nis, there was an organized exhibition called "Renaissance of the Byzantine Empire in 2013." Participants and organizers of the eleventh annual exhibition of multimedia artists, the Gallery SLU "Pavilion Fortress" was welcomed by Mr. Slavoljub Todorovic Zorkin, President of the Association and prof.Milić Petrovic, honorary president and director of the Gallery of Modern Art in Nis. The exhibition was opened in the presence of numerous guests, by Boban Džunić, president of Municipality of Palilula.

"How much of our time is new and fashionable, we will be able to understand just by looking in the past, in what we thought obsolete and antique. From other hand, only the position of the "new" in which we find ourselves, we will be able to assess the extent to which it is old really old, and how much is still alive in today's time, said the president of Municipality. "City Municipality of Nis Palilula supports the development of cultural and artistic production and the art market and also encourages artists, especially young people, to continue to work in our environment. Thanks to Multimedia Artist Association "Constantine," which for more than a decade successfully achieves the set vision of promoting artistic achievements made ​​in the "imperial city", spreading it with positive energy and creative charge mostly by our background, we are able to relate what was the legacy of a new era that was marked by the Emperor Constantine. Exhibition, which is titled "Renaissance Byzantium", in collaboration with the Gallery of Modern Art, is part of the city of Nis celebrate "St. Constantine and Helen" - "Palilula Night" and the celebration of the Great Jubilee of 1700 years of the Edict of Milan. Symbolic, but very clear, encouraging work of art and a professional association, we emphasized our desire to contribute to the improvement and enrichment of cultural life in the region and the decentralization of cultural production in the country. City of Nis, where Constantine the Great was born, is a place that has always connected the east and the west. Also, as recently His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej said, and "the place that brings together all of the Christian religion." As the "edict" contributed to the development of world science, religion, and other events like these, this is an important day for our community. President of the Association, prof.mr Slavoljub Todorovic Zorkin said that Multimedia Association of Artists "Constantine" brings together professional artists of the city of Nis, creators of artistic expression (art and applied art, visual communication, film, television, photography, comics, music, poetry-literature, architecture, theater). Association, according Zorkin Todorovic, organizes art colonies, debates, lectures, and workshops that promote our cultural heritage and tradition, multiculturalism and regional cooperation.

Eleventh annual exhibition of artists from Nis, "Renaissance of the Byzantine Empire in 2013," at the "Pavilion of Fort” will be open until 07th of June 2013. The exhibition represented approximately 70 works of 43 artists. Based on the evaluation of the international jury-Prof.mr Marin Milutinovic Maki, president of the jury, Professor, University of Banja Luka (Serbian Republic), Stefan Hadzi Nikolov, an academic painter, Skopje (Republic of Macedonia) and Mr. Dragoslav Jeknić-Shaft, a freelance artist, Berane (Montenegro) at the end of the exhibition will be given three awards of the Association: "SHIELD of Emperor Constantine" for the most successful works of art on the subject and Blagodarnica, to all participants and donors of the exhibition.
